Wentworth Park behind Howrah Beach is a large park with sports fields and a playgound. The playground is mid-beach and can be accessed by vehicle from Clarence St – Correa St – left along Salacia Ave.
The playground is spread out over a large area and includes a basic play area for toddlers and a bike/scooter track that mimics real-life road rules!
There are 4 covered BBQ areas spread wide apart, great for privacy – a nice idea and great for BBQ’s and activities such as cricket, soccer, football, frisbees, etc. Toilets are nearby, and access to Howrah Beach is close.
The park has interesting birdlife, including parrots, plovers, and miner birds. Dogs are allowed on-leash but not within 10m of playground areas.
The area was originally a wetland and used as a dump site until 1965, when it was reclaimed to form the current park area.
Named after William Wentworth, an early prominent explorer, politician, and statesman.
