Wentworth Park |
Situated behind Howrah Beach, this is a huge park that includes sports fields and a playgound. The park is on the Clarence foreshore track and has plenty of parking. The playground is mid-beach and can only be accessed by vehicle from Clarence St – Correa St – left along Salacia Ave.
The playground is spread out over a large area and includes a basic play area for toddlers and a bike/scooter track that mimics real-life road rules!
There are 4 covered BBQ areas spread wide apart, great for privacy – a nice idea and great for BBQ’s and activities such as cricket, soccer, football, frisbees, etc. Toilets are not far away, and access to Howrah Beach is close.
The park has interesting birdlife, including parrots, plovers, and miner birds. Dogs allowed on-leash but not within 10m of playground areas.
The area was originally a wetland and partly used as a dump site until 1965. The area was reclaimed to form the current park area.
